El Debate Modelo Naciones Unidas del Lyceé Michel-Rodange

Four of our Spanish 11th grade students participated during three days on the activities included in the MUN programme. We travelled to Luxembourg, where we were welcomed by the organisers at Lyceé Michel-Rodange. The organisation was spectacular and we immediately dived into the UN model debates in different committees, We were part of ILO (International Labour Organization) and WHO (World Health Organization) committees and represented Russia, India and Brazil. 

On the first day, there was an opening ceremony together with a school concert and speeches delivered by the principal of the Lyceé, the mayor of the city, the director of the Erasmus+ programme in Luxembourg and a Luxembourg, European MP. Luckily, we could also enjoy the visit and a brief conversation with our Spanish ambassador in Luxembourg Mrs. María Nieves Blanco Díaz . 

During the first two days, we presented our papers defending our positions on the topic «A World in Transition», looking for support from another countries, voting and moving motions. Every evening, the students had some activities such as touring the city or attending an 80’s party at school.

On the last day, we were allowed to achieve a final resolution among all the countries and committees in the stunning parliament of Luxembourg. That took us the whole morning and late afternoon.

It was an amazing experience which we all remember as the most international of the year, and as such we will leave some testimonials.

«Me lo he pasado genial durante estos días en el MEGAMUN de Luxemburgo. Aunque el viaje de ida se complicó un poco, al final pudimos llegar a tiempo para el debate. Como era mi primer MUN, yo estaba muy nerviosa pero se me pasó en cuanto los demás empezaron a debatir. «El MEGAMUN para mí ha sido una experiencia completamente inolvidable. Durante los días del viaje he tenido la oportunidad de ponerme a prueba personalmente, aprender sobre relaciones internacionales y sobre todo hacer nuevas amistades con las que mantendré contacto.
